Your Tokyo Swallows put an end to their nine game losing streak on Thursday night as they thrashed Yokohama in Yokohama 11-1.

Preston Guilmet, making his first starting appearance in Japan in place of the injured David Buchanan went seven innings, giving up two hits and striking out seven batters. Although the final Swallows reliever of the night, Dohi, gave up a home run to blow the shutout, the pitchers finally got the victory they deserved.

On the offensive side, the Swallows scored some runs early in the ballgame to give the pitchers a comfortable lead. The offense got started early in this one, scoring five runs in the first two innings and knocking out Yokohama starter Imanaga. Overall, the Swallows were led by Balentien’s five RBIs, three hits by lead off man Araki and this season’s surprise contributor Yamasaki.

The Swallows thankfully continue to wind down their season and head down to the Stain Dome to take on the Gomiuri Giants for a three game weekend series. Sugano starts for the Giants, Iwahashi makes his season debut for the Swallows big club because the team doesn’t have any other warm bodies.
