He of the infamous bathtub photo pitched a total of four innings and gave up two runs—one of which, to be fair, was due to a bad throw by Rivero. 2-0 Giants.

The folks from the bench didn’t do much better. Yamamoto got through the sixth unscathed, but put men on the corners in the seventh before being replaced by Matsuoka, who promptly gave up a series of RBIs to make it 5-0 Giants.

The Swallows avoided a shutout by scoring one in the eighth. Nakamura singled and made it to second on a wild pitch. Fujii was then walked and Sakaguchi hit a single to bring Nakamura in. 5-1.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Giants extended their score to 6, and that was all she wrote. 6-1 final.

Game notes:

  • This is the last year in Naruse’s very expensive three-year contract. Will we bring him back? I cannot humanly see why such a thing would happen.
  • Like, seriously.
  • The season’s almost over, right?
