The face of this evening’s Chunichi threat, as is so often the case, was Oshima. He was a triple shy of the cycle and accounted for two of his team’s three runs.

Oshima hit a solo homer in the fourth inning.

0-1 Chunichi

Then he set the table for Guerrero in the bottom of the eighth. Oshima hit a single with one out, and Chunichi’s cleanup hit powered his 29th homer of the season into the cheap seats in left.

Ogawa threw 127 over eight full innings while recording his sixth loss of the season. He struck out six and walked two during an effort which saw his ERA hold pretty steady at 3.09.

Yoshinori will take the mound for the Birds in tomorrow’s rubber match.

**Game Notes:

  • Yamada’s form continues to improve. He was 2-4 at the plate today with a pair of singles.
  • Fujii was the most prolific Bird at the plate, 3-4 with a double and two singles.
  • Sakamoto was the only other Swallow to reach base more than once. He drew walks in the third and fifth innings.
