The Swallows were physically present to close out their three game series in Fukuoka but judging from the product on the field, it seems their baseball talents decided to take an unannounced day off.  Giving up a season high twenty hits and fifteen runs, the Swallows were no match for the marketing arm of the Japanese cell phone company.

It was just like the annual spring training games when the Boston Red Sox play Boston College. The only difference being the Boston College game is more competitive.

Nakao, a rookie making his big team debut started for the Swallows, Nakata started for the cell phone marketing arm.

In hindsight, Manaka probably realizes it was not the best choice of games to have a rookie make his debut. The poor kid Nakao labored through three innings, giving up seven runs (five earned), seven hits and two walks.  Two other Swallows came in to mop up the shitfest as the Swallows fell 15-0.

Meanwhile, the Softbank scored many runs.

Let us never speak of this game again…

News and Notes

  • In interleague play, the Swallows offense has averaged two runs per game.
  • The Swallows continue the interleague shitfest with a three game series against the Marines in Chiba. Wakui starts for Lotte, Hara for the Swallows.
