Chiba Lotte Marines 4

Streak: Lost 5 Last 5: LLLLL

(Zozo Marine Stadium)

The birds from Tokyo lost (again) to the birds from Chiba. Isn’t this fun?!

W: Futaki (4-0); L: Ishiyama (0-3); S: Uchi (2-0 4S)

It’s just another Saturday without Ogawa.

 Swallows Marines
1Tetsuto Yamada (2B)1Roel Santos (CF)
2Ryota Fujii (3B)2Ogino (RF)
3 Tomotaka Sakaguchi (CF)3Kasuya Kakunaka (LF)
4Yuhei (Takai) (RF)4Jimmy Paredes (DH)
5Shoitsu Omatsu (DH)5Daichi Suzuki (2B)
6Dean Green (1B)6Matthew Duffy (3B)
7Yuhei Nakamura (C)7Kazuya Katsiki (1B)
8Ohbiki (SS8Ryo Miki (SS)
9Ugumori (LF)9Tatsuhiro Tamura (C)
SPHoshi (P)SPUchi (P)

This game was never that far out of reach, but the Marines did score first. And the wind was impressive. Tamura’s sac fly with the bases loaded in the second was enough to ensure that.

Hoshi hits the showers.

0-1 Chiba

But Tokyo tied it up in the top of the fifth with it’s lone run of the contest. Green scored from third on Nishida’s sac fly to center with one out.

But Tokyo managed only four more base runners after that. The home team had eight (sixth to eighth frames).

Chiba scored two in the sixth (both tagged to Ishiyama) and one in the seventh (Kondoh) to put the game away.

Tokyo’s starter, Hoshi, made his 13th appearance of the season and lasted 4.2 innings while throwing 93 pitches. His line of six hits, two Ks, five BBs, and one earned run were good enough for a ND.

Tokyo is still in search of its first interleague victory, and that search continues tomorrow afternoon  in Chiba.

First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM.

**League Leaders:

  • Yamada leads the league in walks (40).
  • Nakamura leads the league in HBP (7).
  • Ishikawa leads the league in home runs allowed (11).
  • Lueke leads the league in balks (2).
About Christopher Pellegrini

Christopher is a budding sabermetrician and long-time supporter of Tokyo's more lovable team, the Swallows. He has publicly volunteered, several times, that he plans to buy the team at some point in the future. When he finally runs the joint, it is likely that he will fine any player who swings at the first pitch or sac bunts (unless it's a pitcher, of course). Follow him on Twitter: @chrispellegrini
