The starters for this game were Ishikawa for the Swallows and Miyaguni for the Gomiuri.

Ishikawa did not have his best stuff, scattering seven hits and walking two in his 5 1/3 innings of work. He did however make pitches when it counted, keeping the Gomiuri scoreless. The rest of the bullpen went 3 2/3 innings giving up two hits, walking none and striking out five en route to the shutout.

On the offensive side, the Swallows scored the lone run of the game in the third inning. Most improved hitter thus far this season, Nakamura Yuhei doubled to left, showed great base running instinct to advance on Ohbiki’s foul out, and scored on an RBI groundout by Ishikawa. 1-0 Swallows FINAL
