The BayStars scored in the bottom of the first with a Lopez home run. 1-0 Yokohama.

The Swallows struck back and took the lead in the third. Yamada, batting first, was walked and stole two bases on a throwing error from the catcher. Yuhei then hit a fly to left, which was enough to bring Yamada home and tie the game. Balentien then came in and smashed a ball deep into the stands to make things 1-2 Tokyo.

It was a short-lived lead, however. Yokohama scored another two off Ohlendorf in the fourth (embarrassingly enough, the RBI came from pitcher Klein) and another in the fifth before Ross was replaced by Juri Hara, who gave up another RBI to make things 5-2 Yokohama.

In the top of the sixth, Balentien came out and launched another ball into the far reaches of Yohohama Stadium to make things 5-3 and convince Rami-chan to take Klein out of the game.

Yokohama scored one more run off Hara in the seventh, and that was it for the run-getting from either team.

Game notes:

  • With the two today, Balentien has three home runs so far this season. Annoyingly, the player who leads the league with five is human unagi Shinnosuke Abe.
  • This is Ohlendorf’s first loss: he’s started three games and the other two were no decisions. His ERA is now 4.50.
  • The Swallows are currently in 5th place, 0.5 games behind Yokohama. They head to Kumamoto on Tuesday to face the Giants, who will play as the home team. Yamanaka will get the start against Sugano.
