After their devastating seven game losing streak, the Swallows have won three series in a row and gotten out of the Central League cellar!

Swallows starter Sugiura pitched seven strong, efficient innings and three relievers somehow combined to pitch two shutout innings.

Sakaguchi led the Swallows offense out of his customary lead-off spot in the batting order with three hits and two RBIs while Ohbiki was dropped in the batting order but responded with two RBIs. Inanami and new #3 hitter Nishiura also had three hits in the win.

The Chunichi bats were silenced for much of the game and as a result, they now have the great distinction of playing sixth place baseball. They have also dropped nine consecutive series.

News and Notes

  • The Swallows now have a record of 14 wins and 7 losses against Chunichi.
  • With the big bats of Kawabata – Yamada – Hatake out with injury, the Swallows batted Nishiura – Balentien – Imanami respectively. Yikes…
  • Sugiura picked up his second win of the season. To address his issues with lack of stamina, he threw more pitches than usual in his last bullpen session three days ago.
  • The Swallows start a three game series against the hated Giants. Scheduled to start are Davies for the birds and a dude named Egarashi for the Giants.
