(Meiji Jingu Stadium)

The Swallows came off two days of unscheduled rest and got the job done against the BayStars. Ishikawa pitched a strong game and the offense got enough done against Ishida to put the team six games above .500 and at the top of the table. (Tied with Hanshin.)

W: Ishikawa (10-9)
L: Ishida (2-4)
S: Barnette (35)

Ishikawa gave up a lead off single to Sho Aranami to open up the game. The next hit Ishikawa gave up was six innings later in the seventh inning.

On the other side, Ishida was pitching a decent game but he gave up a Jingu homer to Ohbiki in the second. 1-0 Swallows

Yamada lead off the fourth with a solo shot off of Ishida to extend the lead. 2-0 Swallows

Ishikawa left the mound after giving up a four pitch walk with two out and a man on in the sixth inning. Ishikawa was only on 85 pitches and it seemed like the second start in a row that he was pulled with gas left in the tank. Akiyoshi came in and got Lopez to strikeout on a steady diet of low change ups.

Mishima came in to pitch the eighth for the BayStars. Kawabata got a one out double and after Yamada struck out for the third time in the night, Hatake brought Kawabata home with a single. 3-0 Swallows

The stage was set for Tony Barnette to bounce back from his last outing. The good news was he struck out the side, the bad news was he gave up a solo shot to Miyazaki in between those strikeout. Oh well, a win is a win! 3-1 Swallows FINAL

  • The Tigers lost to the Giants putting them in a tie for first with the Swallows with identical 65-59-1 records. The Giants are two games behind with a 64-62-1 record.
  • Triple Crown Watch: Yamada extended his HR with his solo shot. However his 1-for-4 night lost him some ground in the BA race as Kawabata went 2-for-4 and raised his average to .336, Yamada dipped to .332. Hatake got his own RBI and he now has 90 RBIs on the season, while Yamada has 88.
  • Logan Ondrusek made his 61st appearance of the season in the eighth. His career high was 66 appearances for the Cincinnati Reds in 2011. Ondrusek also appeared in 66 games in 2012 split between the Reds (63) and AAA Louisville (3).
  • The Swallows have a scheduled day off tomorrow before heading to the Nagoya Dome for a two game set against the Dragons.
