Another high-scoring day out in Hiroshima for the Swallows. This also marks the first time Tokyo has managed to string together two consecutive wins since beating the Giants on April 24th and 25th.

The Carp had one big inning, but the Swallows’ slow and steady scoring carried the day.

The scoring:

Bottom of the first. Tanaka doubled, then moved to third on a Kikuchi bunt. Maru then  drove in the first run of the game. 1-0 Hiroshima.

Top of the second. Araki ran an obstacle course. After a BB, he stole second, then reached third on an Imanami fly ball and scored on a Nakamura grounder down the third base line. 1-1.

Bottom of the second. Eldred hit a solo home run to lead off the inning. 2-1 Hiroshima.

Top of the third. Yamada doubled, then reached third on a Fujii bunt. Hatake came through with an RBI to center. 2-2.

Bottom of the third. History repeats. Tanaka doubled and reached third on a Kikuchi bunt. Arai drove him in. 3-2 Hiroshima.

 Top of the fourth. Multiple runs! Araki singled. Imanami cracked a two-run home run. Nakamura doubled and reached third on an Ishiyama bunt. Fujii drove Nakamura in on an infield hit. 5-3 Tokyo.

 Bottom of the fifth. Tanaka led off with a third hit. Maru walked. Arai drove two runs in with a double. Schierholtz then drove Arai in with a double.

The bleeding got Ishiyama pulled and replaced by Akiyoshi.

Eldred, rude host that he is, welcomed Akiyoshi to the game with a two-run homer. 8-5 Hiroshima.

 Top of the sixth. Nakamura led off with a walk on a ten-pitch at-bat. Akiyoshi was replaced by Hiyane, who singled. So did Yamada. Good old Hiroyasu Tanaka came in to replace Fujii. K.

Oh well. Kawabata came up and walked, with the bases loaded, for a run. 8-6 Hiroshima.

Top of the eighth. Zagurski took the mound for the Carp. With one out, Kawabata hit an infield single. Hatake singled, putting men on the corners. Nishiura took over on the baserunning duties. Yuhei hit an RBI grounder to second. 8-7 Hiroshima.

 Top of the ninth. Rally time. Nakazaki on the mound. Imanami singled and reached second on a Nakamura bunt. Yamada walked.

Miwa up. two-RBI triple. Hell of an ending. 9-8 Tokyo, Final.

Interleague starts Tuesday, when Tokyo will host Hokkaido.
