Arakaki struggled with his control throughout, allowing bases loaded situations in the first and third innings. Despite the countless opportunities afforded to Yokohama throughout the game however, they managed to only score two runs; both on Tsutsugoh solo home runs in the third and fifth innings. As a measure of their wastefulness, Yokohama stranded nine runners on base through free five innings Arakaki was on the mound.

Fans along the first base side had hopes for  some Jingu Magic in the warm Tokyo air. Unfortunately, the Swallows never posed a serious threat to Miura and only mustered opportunities with two out. Miura ultimately went eight innings, giving up only four hits and two walks while throwing exactly 100 pitches.

That being said, Swallows pitchers did a great job throughout the game delivering what was asked of them. Arakaki wiggled through five innings on two earned runs and the bullpen contributed another four innings of scoreless baseball. Unfortunately the Swallows offense was not able to answer the call tonight.

In tomorrow’s rubber game of this three game set, the Swallows send out Naruse while Yokohama counters with Mishima. In his last start against the Swallows during Golden Week, Mishima pitched effectively and picked up the win. He also pitched terribly against the Swallows before that. Fingers crossed the not so good version of Mishima makes an appearance tomorrow.
