Despite an un-Ishiyama like pitching performance and the offense limited to only five hits, the Swallows came away with another come from behind victory over Chunichi at Nagoya Dome.

Chunichi opened the scoring in the bottom of the third. Ohshima and Kamezawa had consecutive singles to left. With two out, Fukuda stepped up and singled in Ohshima. 1-0 Chunichi

After struggling to generate any offense in the first five innings against Chunichi starter Yamai, the Swallows offense came alive in the top of the sixth. Ohbiki worked an impressive eight pitch walk, followed by pinch hitter Morioka reaching base on an error by second baseman Kamezawa. The Swallows took advantage of Chunichi’s mistake, tying the game on Yamada’s single to center before taking the lead on Ueda’s single. Ueda then stole second base,  before Yuhei stepped up with two outs and doubled in Ueda to score the fourth run of the inning. 4-1 Swallows

Ishiyama ultimately ended up going five innings before four relievers (Roman, Akiyoshi, Ondrusek, Barnette) combined to throw four innings of shutout baseball for the win.

In the rubber game of the three game set tomorrow, the starters are Arakaki for Tokyo, Yoshimi for Chunichi. Arakaki makes his second starting appearance against Chunichi while Yoshimi makes his first start against the Swallows. As it is the only NPB baseball match being played tomorrow, baseball fans around Japan have no excuse not to watch.
