The game ultimately came down to one moment. The game was tied 1-1 going into the seventh inning with both starters looking strong. The Swallows got their run in the second off of a no doubter Hatake solo shot, while the Dragons got their run off of three straight singles in the third. The moment was set up by a wobble by Ishikawa that set up a two out bases loaded situation. Ishikawa ultimately gave up a single that gave up the lead and ended his night. 2-1 Dragons

The moment the Swallows really lost the game.

The moment the Swallows really lost the game.

But that wasn’t the moment the Swallows lost the game against the Dragons. The moment came after Tetsuya Yamamoto stepped up to the mound and threw a 3-1 fastball straight down the pipe ti Hirata. Hirate lined the ball to right center over the heads of the outfielders that were playing in and onto the wall for a bases clearing double. All the runs were charged to Ishikawa but the true losing moment belonged to Yamamoto. Had Yamomoto held the Swallows offense would have still had a chance to make something happen without the pressure of having to make up four runs. While the Swallows had some chances to put runs on the board after the moment. there was an air of inevitability that the Swallows wouldn’t get the win. Unfortunately the Swallows lived up to those expectations.

Hopefully the Swallows will bounce back against the Giants whom they will play starting tomorrow. The first matchup will feature Shichijo against Utsumi.
