The Swallows lost the game in the first inning when a single, double, and a monster homerun, by Yoshikawa, Wada, and Hirata scored 3 runs. 3-0 Dragons

Kiya stabilized afterwards, although he still gave up a fair number of hits but the bad start meant that the Swallows offense had to battle Daniel Cabrera. Cabrera came into today’s game with a record of 3 wins in 3 starts against the Swallows, and he showed his continued mastery of the Swallows bats during today’s game. Cabrera held the Swallows hitless through the first three innings but showed some weakness in the fourth. Yamada opened the inning with a double, and came around to score on a one out single by Balentien. 3-1 Dragons Yuichi followed with a single of his own, but the threat ended with a Iihara DP.

Cabrera only gave up one nore hit in his last three innings of work. Meanwhile, the Dragons got their lead back to three after a two-out single and double by Takahashi and Donoue. 4-1 Dragons

The Dragons handed the ball to Asao in the eighth and Iwase in the ninth to preserve the lead and the win. Kiya managed to pitch seven innings and only Fujita had to make an appearance from the bullpen.

The great Coco homerun drought has now stretched to five games (gasp!). Cabrera did a good job of attacking Coco and got him to chase pitches outside the zone and to watch strikes go by him. Balentien went 1-for-4 with an RBI and 2 Ks.

Tomorrow’s game will be another day game with a 14:00. Ogawa will be making the start for the Swallows while the Dragons will send out Yamai. Tomorrow will be the last game the Swallows will play against the Dragons during the 2013 season. The Swallows hold a 12-11 advantage over the team from Nagoya and a win tomorrow will ensure a winning record against the Dragons.

Balentien didn't get a homerun but did manage an RBI single.
