This game was an emotional rollercoaster ride that ultimately lead to much pain. Thus, we will be presenting today’s game report in abbreviated bullet points to spare you of the graphic details.

  • Tateyama starts, and while he scatters hits and allows a runner onto third in both the first and fifth, he seems to be in control of the game.
  • The Carp’s rookie right hander Fukui, on the other hand, doesn’t allow a hit through the first 5 innings but walks 3 batters.
  • Tateyama finally pays for allowing a runner to get to third in the top of the sixth, by giving up three consecutive 2 out hits to give the Carp the lead. 2-0 Carp
  • With one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, Fukui walks his Waseda senpai Aoki.
  • Fukui’s other Waseda senpai, Tanaka, breaks up Fukui’s no hit bid with a single to center to put men on the corners.
  • Fukui loads the bases by beaning Whitesell dangerously close to the back of his head.
  • Hatakeyama watches five pitches go by him to make the count full.
  • Hatakeyama take pitch number 6 and puts it in the left field stands for a GRAND SLAM!!! 4-2 Swallows
  • Balentien flies out weakly to the second baseman, but Miyamoto follows with another homerun to left. 5-2 Swallows
  • Swallows fans rejoice and pass out.
  • Swallows fans wake up one inning later and pass out again from shock. 6-5 Carp
  • Fucking Oshimoto…
