Chunichi Dragons 6

Tokyo Yakult Swallows 2

Streak: Lost 1  Last 5: LLWWL

(Meiji Jingu)

(This will be a somewhat abbreviated game report as I am currently on the road. Apologies for the lack of detail, but who wants to dwell on a loss?)

After Tateyama held the Dragons’ bats at bay last night, Muranaka brought them back to life.

The Lineup

  1. Aoki CF
  2. Miyamoto 3B
  3. Hatakeyama LF
  4. Whitesell 1B
  5. Iihara RF
  6. Aikawa C
  7. Kawabata SS
  8. Tanaka 2B
  9. Muranaka P

Aoki was in the lineup and apparently wasn’t showing any ill effects from his beaning last night.

The Dragons scored first on a Wada home run in the third inning, and they never looked back. Wada would homer again in the fifth inning, this time a 2-run shot, which combined with an RBI double by Morino in the previous at bat gave the Dragons 3 runs in the inning.

After Muranaka was pulled after the sixth inning, Masubuchi was brought in for relief, which he wasn’t able to provide. Aftyer giving up a hit to Morino, and a walk to Blanco, Oda doubled to center to score them both. So after seven innings the score stood at 6-0 Dragons.

The Swallows finally managed to score in garbage time in the eighth. Kawamoto started the inning off by drawing a walk, and Aoki hit a home run into right. Aoki’s 12th home run of the season combined with the double he hit in the sixth inning, gives him 190 hits on the year. Aoki now has 14 games to reach 200 hits for the second time in his career. 6-2 Dragons
