Tokyo Yakult Swallows cap

Yomiuri Giants 3

Tokyo Yakult Swallows 2

Streak: Lost 2  Last 5:LWWLL

(Jingu Stadium)

With the Pennant now secure Yomiuri rested several regulars at Jingu and still pulled off the win.

Not much you really need to know about this meaningless game.

Ryo Kawashima started and went 6 and1/3 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) off four hits, striking out six and walking three.  He was tagged with the loss and his record is now 7-9-4.696.  The bullpen (Matsuoka/Igarashi/Kida) pitched out the remaining innings of the game, giving up no further runs.

Tokyo took a 2-0 lead in the 6th but Yomiuri came back in the 7th with three runs of their own, including a solo shot from Ramirez, his 45th of the year.

And that was that.

Final game of the season is Sunday evening against Yokohama.

Kudos to Tokyo for pitching to Ramirez. Looking forward to seeing how the race plays out tonight!

2 runs on 2 Saturday nights in a row? So very anemic. We need some bats to come in over the offseason, but I’m not holding my breath.

  • Yeah, there definitely won’t be any high-profile FA signings. When was the last time Tokyo paid good money to lure a top-tier free agent from another team?
