Miyamoto-around-the-horn

Hello, Tokyo fans! Here’s something for you to read while trying to be cool. The season has started and your birds are off to a decent start. This past weekend they largely embarrassed crosstown rivals, Yomiuri, in a three-game series at the stain-dome, and they’re now looking ahead to an infestation of Hanshin maniacs starting [...]

Tokyo Swallows Off-Season Updates: March 23rd, 2012

Blondes have more fun.

Swallows Present As mentioned in our most recent podcast, Balentien could start the year on the top team. Because he’s starting to show some life at the plate, mixed with Roman’s continued stability on the mound, and abetted by Lim’s tender throwing arm, Tokyo’s well-paid closer could start the year on the farm instead. Yet [...]

Trivia: double-digit steals and doubles

Aoki accomplished the feat every year from 2005-2010. In 2006 he had 26 doubles and 41 steals. In fact, Aoki collected more than 20 steals and 20 doubles three times in his career.

The first two installments of Tsubamegun’s trivia column were a bit on the nasty side, so we have one here for you that’s a bit more pedestrian. There are five players currently on the roster that have stolen at least 10 bases and collected at least 10 doubles in the same season. Can you name [...]

Aoki’s gone, and there are some question marks hanging over the team as spring camp gets under way down in Urasoe, Okinawa. We here at Tsubamegun tend to see these question marks as opportunities, and [...]

Tokyo Swallows Off-Season Updates: January 21, 2012

Milwaukee's newest prospect and ROY candidate, Norichika Aoki.

We’ll do another ‘Opening Day Lineup’ post soon, especially now that Aoki has officially flown the coop, but let’s first take a moment to check in with the rest of the team. At least two Tokyo players have already contracted the flu. Awesome. I’m a bit confused because this is normally what happens to the [...]
