The highlight of the game for the Carp faithful was the retirement match for longtime Kuroda battery partner, Yoshikazu Kura. Kura started the game and caught Kuroda’s walk to Sakaguchi before getting replaced by Ishihara. Kawabata struck out and Yamada advanced Sakaguchi on a grounder. Kuroda walked Coco on a wild pitch to put men on the corners before the officials stopped the game because of the rain.

After about 40 minutes of waiting in the rain, the officials called the game wiping out the game from the record. The teams will attempt to replay the game on October 1.
