With the regular season winding down, every game could be labeled as a MUST WIN. At a rainy, gloomy Jingu Stadium on Tuesday, Tokyo dug themselves into a deeper hole in a pitiful performance against Yokohama.

The starters for this game were Ogawa for the Swallows and talented lefty Imanaga for Yokohama. Ogawa struggled with his control and against the long ball again tonight. In the second inning, Yokohama used a clutch hit from Kuramoto to cash in an Ogawa lead-off walk. Yokohama added to their lead in the third and fourth innings with home runs by Kuwahara and Elian; the latter being a devastating three run shot to put good old momentum on Yokohama’s side.

From the fifth inning on, Yokohama scored nine runs unanswered en route to a 11-3 thrashing of the Swallows. Nothing went right for Tokyo, the offense held to four hits, the starter only going five innings, and the bullpen giving up eight hits and six runs in four innings of work.

But hey, at least it was half price beer night…
