Swallows Highlights

  • Kyle Davies was OK going five innings allowing 3 ER on 5 hits and a walk before he was lifted for a pinch hitter.
  • Sakaguchi got a hit in the third inning.
  • Yamasaki got his first career NPB hit in the fifth and he even stole second base.
  • Kazuki Kondo made his Swallows debut after being acquired in a trade with Orix. Kondo pitched a scoreless sixth despite allowing two hits and a walk.
  • Iwahashi pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

That about summs it up. The Swallows could not get anything going against Shintaro Fujinami through seven innings. While Davies, Kondo and Iwahashi kept it close enough to make a comeback a possibility. Kiya and Naruse gave away five runs in the final two frames to turn the game into a blow out. Mauro Gomez and Hayata Ito both had four hit games including back-to-back homerun off Naruse in the ninth. Shun Takayama had three RBIs for the Tigers.

Game 2 will feature Hirofumi Yamanaka going against Randy Messenger.

(Oh… and the Swallows are back in sixth place.)
