Nishiura and Sakaguchi got singles in the first inning. Those were the only Swallows hits of the night. Nishiura got caught trying to steal first in that inning, meaning that no Swallows made it safely to second all night.

Ishikawa did not give up an extra base hit tonight but he gave up A LOT of singles. Despite giving up 6 singles through the first three innings, Ishikawa managed to keep the Carp off the scoreboard.

The Carp finally got a run in the fourth. Ishikawa issued an one out walk to Dobayashi. After Dobayashi stole second, Ishihara singled to left to put men on the corners for Kuroda. Ishikawa fell behind to Kuroda and ended up giving up a suicide squeeze for a run. 1-0 Carp

That was all Ishikawa gave up and he left the game with one out in the seventh having given up the one run on ELEVEN singles and a walk.

Matsuoka cleaned up after Ishikawa in the seventh but gave up a lead off walk to start the eighth. Iwahashi came into the game after Matsuoka got a K, and promptly loaded the bases with a walk and an infield single. Iwahashi lost control for a final time conceding a wold pitch run to Kokubo before getting two straight outs to end the inning. 2-0 Carp

Jackson and Nakazaki continued Kuroda’s strong start and shut out the Swallows over the final two frames. 2-0 Carp FINAL

Yamanaka will look to salvage the road series against Braden Hagens tomorrow evening.
