The starters for this game were Sugiura for your Swallows, Petrick for the Yokohama.

Yokohama got to Sugiura early in this one, roughing him up for five runs in three innings before sending him to an early shower. After adding another run off reliever Naruse in the fourth, Yokohama got out to what seemed like an insurmountable 6-0 lead after four innings.

The Swallows offense then made things interesting by responding with four runs in the fifth inning thanks to an RBI hit by Ohbiki and a massive home run by Balentien to make it a 6-4 Yokohama lead.

The clubs continued to slug it out in the later innings, highlighted by a solo shot by Yokohama’s Elian and an RBI double by Balentien. 8-6 Yokohama heading into the eighth inning.

In the eighth inning, the Swallows offense finally overcame Yokohama’s lead and manage to come back completely. After Imanami and Nishida reached to open the inning, pinch hitter Ueda tripled them home to finally tie the game 8-8. Then with Ueda at third base and nobody out, momentum was with the Swallows as even a weak ground ball would bring in the go ahead run. However, the next two batters struck out before Sakaguhi grounded out.

In the ninth inning, Yokohama made the Swallows pay as hot hitting Tsutsugoh blasted a 3-1 pitch from Akiyoshi deep into the Swallows right field cheering section. 9-8 Yokohama final
