The Swallows began their series in Nagoya with an even record against the Dragons: 3-3, with each team being 2-1 at home and a cumulative run total of 29-26 in favor of Tokyo. Naruse faced Chunichi for the first time this season.

The Scoring:

Bottom of the second. Naruse walked Viciedo on four pitches. Hirata then popped out to right before Donoue singled to right. The brought up Sugiyama, who tripled to center field, driving in two runs. Tani then walked to put men on the corners. Luckily, Naruse managed to get Baldiris and Oshima to pop out, to get out of the inning. 2-0 Chunichi.

Bottom of the third. Araki doubled off the first pitch he saw. Two ground-outs later, Hirata hit an RBI double to center before Donoue popped out to end the inning. 3-0 Chunichi. 

Bottom of the fourth. Naruse walked Sugiyama. Tani popped out, then Valdes successfully sac-bunted. Oshima then hit an RBI triple to center, which was followed by an Araki RBI single, also to center. 5-0 Chunichi.

Top of the fifth. Balentien walked, then got caught on his way to second when Kawabata singled. Hatake popped out. Iihara then homered to left. 5-2 Chunichi.

Top of the sixth. Hiyane singled, then reached third on an Ohbiki double. Sakaguchi drove two runs in with a triple to center. And no outs yet!

Yamada struck out, but Coco walked to put men on the corners. Donoue caught a Kawabata line drive and tried to turn a double play, but Coco managed to get back to first, appearing to put his left knee in an awkward position on the slide. Nevertheless, he stayed on. The side was retired when Hatake popped out to the infield. 5-4 Chunichi.

 Top of the seventh. Satoh seemed to lose his control. He nailed Iihara in the elbow, then balked. He followed that by walking Nakamura. He then threw a wild pitch, which allowed Nakamura to advance to second. This ended Satoh’s evening. Okada took the mound and walked Matsuoka. Ohbiki grounded out to short, but Iihara managed to score. 5-5.

Bottom of the seventh. Oshima singled to left. Araki sac-bunted him to second. Matsuoka then threw a wild pitch, putting Oshima on third. Nanita then hit an RBI sac-fly. 6-5 Chunichi, Final.
