After last night’s fun and games, tonight it was back to more standard 2016 Swallows fare as they were abused by Yomiuri at home in a game as nauseating as the green alternate uniforms the team was wearing.

:(

🙁

Given the shit-show that I just spent three hours of my life watching, I can only muster enough energy for bullet points this evening:

  • Tateyama made his second start of the year (his first being a 5 inning 5 run outing), and was even worse than his last appearance: 5 IP / 105 NP / 11 H / 1 HR / 4 K / 1 BB / 1 HBP  / 6 ER. Also throw in a couple of wild pitches for good measure, one of them scoring the game’s first run. Now no one loves them some Shohei as much as me but, and it pains me to say this, he should not be pitching on the top team at this point, as he just doesn’t have it. Maybe a spell on the farm to see if he can get his shit together may do the trick or maybe, just maybe he…..he…….no, I can’t go there. I’m not willing to throw the towel in on him just yet.
  • Just as in his first start against us in the opening series (7 inning 0 run outing), the pile of phlegm, sweat, vomit, urine, and excrement shaped into human form that is Sugano was excellent. This time going the distance for a complete game shutout, finally ending his career winless streak at Jingu. Salt, meet wound.
  • The Swallows bats managed just four hits the whole evening, one in the 2nd, two in the 7th, and one in the 9th. They were outhit 18-4.
  • Muranaka and Matsuoka gave up a run each in their two innings apiece in relief.
  • As bad as tonight was, tomorrow will see Ogawa face off against Takagi with a chance to take the series on the line.

Manaka’s already said they’re gonna demote Tateyama until he gets his feeling back. (Hopefully we’ll see him again on the top team.)
