Tokyo Swallows 5

Yokohama BayStars 6

Streak: Lost 2 Last 5: LWWLL

A late inning near-miss rally was not enough to overcome a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad, four-inning day for Juri Hara as the Swallows slip into last place.

The Scoring:

Bottom of the first. Kuwahara doubled off the first pitch of the game. Ishikawa grounded back to the pitcher, moving Kuwahara to third. Ide then hit an RBI single, followed by a Tsutsugo home-run to left off of a shuuto. Lopez singled before Hara managed to get out of the inning. 3-0 Yokohama.

Bottom of the fourth. Tobashira led off with a single and advanced on an Ishida sac-bunt. Kuwahara walked, then Ishikawa hit a two-run triple to right. He was promptly brought home by an Ide sac-fly. 6-0 Yokohama.

Top of the fifth. Yuhei led off with a single and advanced to third on a Yachi double. After Nakamura and Tanaka popped out to right, Sakaguchi walked to load the bases. Kawabata cracked a line-drive to left, bringing in two runs. 6-2 Yokohama.

Top of the ninth, one out. Balentien doubled to the center-field fence, then a Yuhei single put men on the corners. Yachi then continued a solid game and played the hero with a three-run homer. Alas, ’twas not enough. 6-5 Yokohama, Final.
