With Ueda on second (HBP) and Kawabata on first (catcher interference), Yamada hit a 1-2 cutter high into the corner in left, ricocheting off the yellow foul pole. Home run number 37 for Tokyo’s star second baseman.

3-0 Tokyo

But Yomiuri got back into the game in the bottom of the second when Chono homered with Abe standing on first (BB).

3-2 Tokyo

And Okamoto tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with a single to right which scored Chono from third.

3-3

Abe’s two out double in the fifth ended up being the game-winner for Yomiuri during Roman’s inning of early relief.

3-4 FINAL

Four Yomiuri relievers combined to keep Tokyo hitless over the final four frames of this contest.

This was a huge win for the Giants, and now even more pressure is on Tokyo to get a win tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is slated for 2 PM with lefty Ishikawa (12-9, 3.37 ERA) facing off against Sugano. Ishikawa is 3-2 with a 2.67 ERA against Yomiuri this year. Sugano is 0-3 with a 6.89 ERA against Tokyo (tee hee).

About Christopher Pellegrini

Christopher is a budding sabermetrician and long-time supporter of Tokyo's more lovable team, the Swallows. He has publicly volunteered, several times, that he plans to buy the team at some point in the future. When he finally runs the joint, it is likely that he will fine any player who swings at the first pitch or sac bunts (unless it's a pitcher, of course). Follow him on Twitter: @chrispellegrini
