(Koshien Stadium)

After sweeping the hated Yomiuri Giants at home, your Swallows got dicked on down in Kansai.

W: Fujinami (11-6, 2.56 ERA)
L: Roman (4-2, 2.53)

Hanshin starter, Fujinami, recorded a complete game shutout and allowed only three hits and a walk.

Hiyane (CF)1Toritani (SS)
Kawabata (3B)2Uemoto (2B)
Yamada (2B)3Fukudome (RF)
Hatakeyama (1B)4Gomez (1B)
Yuhei (RF)5Murton (LF)
Imanami (SS)6Imanari (3B)
Milledge (LF)7Itoh (CF)
Nakamura (C)8Tsuruoka (C)
Roman (P)9Fujinami (P)

Two of those hits were from Fujinami who started at short. Kawabata collected the other hit and Nakamura the lone walk.

Tokyo starter, Orlando Roman, lasted five innings and gave up four runs (three earned). The unearned run came in the second inning on an Itoh sac fly. The three earned runs came in the bottom of the fifth when Roman walked three batters and two RBI singles compounded the damage.

0-4 Hanshin

Nakazawa (3.42 ERA) pitched a difficult but ultimately scoreless sixth inning. Furuno (4.43) gave up an earned run in the seventh, and Matsuoka (4.13) gave up four earned runs in the eighth even though a home run was not involved.

Roman (2-4, 2.53 ERA) took the loss as he continues to provide spot start cover for holes in the starting rotation. He struck out five and walked three during his 94 pitches of work.

Ishiyama (5-5, 3.65) will take the mound for Tokyo tomorrow night against Messenger (8-10, 3.13).

About Christopher Pellegrini

Christopher is a budding sabermetrician and long-time supporter of Tokyo's more lovable team, the Swallows. He has publicly volunteered, several times, that he plans to buy the team at some point in the future. When he finally runs the joint, it is likely that he will fine any player who swings at the first pitch or sac bunts (unless it's a pitcher, of course). Follow him on Twitter: @chrispellegrini
