The starters for this game were Ishikawa for the Swallows, rookie Ishida for Yokohama making his second career start.

The Swallows offense got off an another quick start in the first inning. After singles by Hiyane and Yamada (with a rare Kawabata strikeout sandwiched in between), Hatakeyama singled to center to drive in Hiyane. Yuhei lined out to short before Ohbiki singled to left for yet another timely hit. 2-0 Swallows

Yokohama responded in the fifth inning. Baldiris doubled to lead off the inning and came around to score on a single by the catcher. 2-1 Swallows

That was enough offense for the Swallows pitching staff as Ishikawa, Matsuoka, Akiyoshi, and Orlando Roman protected the one run lead before Tony Barnette came in to slam the door on Yokohama with a 1-2-3 ninth.

News and Notes

  • The Swallows are back in first place for the first time since July 3rd.
  • Prior to the game, outfielder Matsui Jun was deactivated to make space for Ishikawa.
  • Ever since his bad stretch of starts in June and getting skipped in the starting rotation, Ishikawa has bounced back going 2-0, 1.54ERA. (Both starts against Yokohama)
  • Hatake drove in his league leading 63rd run of the season.

Lord Hatake came through with another RBI hit
