The usually reliable Dragons setup man Matayoshi had an off day and the Swallows made sure to take advantage… and more.

After Tuesday’s come from behind victory in rainy Gifu, the Swallows looked to build on that momentum with the series returning to the more familiar Nagoya Dome.

Dragons’ starter Wakamatsu was extremely effective through his seven innings of work, giving up four hits, three walks, while striking out six and giving up one earned run. For Swallows fans, that lone run brought optimism as it came on a terribly slumping Yuhei solo home run. Only his fourth of the season.

Swallows’ starter Naruse put in a solid shift, giving up two earned runs in six innings. Despite showing wildness by walking four Dragons, he also limited them to only two hits.

Heading into the eighth inning down 3-1, the Swallows showed fight for the second straight night. In came the Dragons’ Matayoshi and four straight hits later from the top of the order, the game was quickly tied at three; capped off by who else but LORD HATAKE. Today’s Swallows however weren’t satisfied with merely tying the game and finally completed the comeback on an RBI single by Morioka. 4-3 Swallows

The Swallows looked to add an insurance or two in the ninth to give Tony Barnette a little extra breathing room. They ended up scoring another seven runs on eight hits and a walk while Tony got an unexpected day off. In his place, the recently called-up Nakazawa got a chance to pitch and finished off the game with a perfect inning. 11-3 Swallows final

Yamada and Lord HATAKE led the Swallows with three RBIs each while Yuhei also contributed two RBIs. Everybody on the Dragons stunk it up after the seventh inning.

The final game of this series features Furuno for the Swallows, Ohno for the Dragons. Ohno against the Swallows this season is 3-0 with a 1.50 ERA in three starts. Fingers crossed the Swallows saved some offensive firepower for the final game.

Yuhei hit his first home run in 54 days.
