Swallows agree to terms with Mitch Dening

The Swallows announced they have agreed to terms with 26 year old Australian outfielder Mitch Dening. Dening has spent the last two years playing for the Niigata Albirex of the independent BC League. Dening is a former Red Sox prospect who never made it past AA. Dening also played for the Australian national team in the 2009 and 2013 Word Baseball Classics.

Dening will be formally introduced as a Swallow on Tuesday. The team no doubt hopes the lefty can give the offense a kick and challenge Lastings Milledge with Coco Balentien out for the foreseeable future. The Swallows have not revealed how they will shuffle their import roster to accommodate Dening, but it seems Lastings Milledge and Orlando Roman would be the candidates for demotion.
