The Swallows shook up their roster a bit and called up Nishiura, Jun Matsui, and Imanami to the top team. Matsui and Nishiura both found themselves starting.

Daisuke Miura was making his first 2015 start and was looking to join Masa Yamamoto and Kimiyasu Kudo as the only players to record a win in 23 consecutive seasons.

The Swallows struck first as Araki belted a solo shot to left to start off the second. 1-0 Swallows

The BayStars came back in the fourth. Naruse gave up a four pitch walk to start the inning. Despite getting Balderis and Ide out, Naruse left a slider hanging down the middle against Takajo. Takajo sent the ball into the left field stands for his first career home run. 2-1 BayStars

The Swallows chipped back in the fifth. Naruse got a one out single up the middle, and was replaced in the basepaths after Yamada grounded into a fielder’s choice. Ueda followed with a double to right that allowed Yamada to score the tying run. 2-2 All The Swallows retook the lead in the sixth after Araki got on base with a one out infield single. Araki proceeded to steal second, and advanced to third on a Matsui ground out. Nishiura got a walk to put men on the corners. Nakamura hit a first pitch grounder just hard and tricky enough to force Ishikawa to boot it, allowing Araki to score the go ahead run. 3-2 Swallows

Through five innings it was looking like Naruse was pitching his style of ground out ball and except for the Takajo homer was looking decent. But the wheels came off in the sixth. Naruse gave up a lead off single to Tsutsugo. Lopez flied out to short but Balderis hit a hard double to put men in scoring position with one out. Ide hit a deep enough fly ball to bring home the tying run via a sac fly. 3-3 All Takajo and Goto both added a run each with back-to-back doubles. 5-3 BayStars

The Swallows got back a run in the seventh with back-to-back singles by Kawabata and Hatake aided by a wild pitch in between, but they never got closer. 5-4 BayStars

Kyuko and Ondrusek each pitched perfect innings after Naruse’s six innings. 5-4 BayStars
