The Scoring:

Top of the seventh. Hatakeyama walked and moved to second on a Morioka sac-bunt. Takeuchi singled, putting men on the corners, then Nakamura hit an RBI single. 1-0 Tokyo.

That was as much fun as the afternoon got.

Bottom of the seventh. Ugliest team pitching performance to date. Cepeda walked and was replaced by a pinch-running Matsumoto. Kinjoh singled and was also replaced, by Terauchi. This ended Sugiura’s afternoon and brought Nakazawa to the mound.

Nakazawa walked Takahashi and Kamei back-to-back to give Yomiuri a run. This got Nakazawa yanked in favor of Ondrusek, who did the same thing, walking Sakamoto, getting Abe out on an infield fly, then walking Ibata. 3-1 Yomiuri.

Bottom of the eighth. Akiyoshi took the mound for Tokyo. Murata walked, then reached second when Nakamura fumbled a Terauchi sac-bunt, which put two men on base. Sanematsu then walked to load the bases. Sakamoto and Abe then got back-to-back hits for three runs. 6-1 Yomiuri, Final.

Tokyo hosts the oversized goldfish starting Tuesday evening.
