Everybody got a turn in an epic that turned dramatic and satisfying. Extra innings are usually a sign of a long bout of nothing, but not today.

The Scoring:

Bottom of the first. Yamada scored first, singling, stealing second, then racing home with Kawabata at the plate. 1-0 Tokyo.

Top of the third. Shirasaki singled, stole second, and scored on a Tsutsugo RBI. Lopez doubled and Baldiris walked to fill the bases. Aranami hit an RBI sac fly, then Takajo hit an RBI double. 3-1 Yokohama.

Bottom of the fifth. With one out, Ohbiki singled. Morioka pinch hit for Roman and singled, putting men on the corners. Yamada hit an RBI grounder. Tanaka hit to put men on the corners again, setting up Kawabata for a three-run home run. 5-3 Tokyo.

The top of the seventh was big for the visitors. Aranami led off with a home run to right. Tokuyama then walked Takajo, who reached second on a passed ball, then third on a Kuwahara sac bunt.

Ondrusek took the mound and gave up the tying run on an RBI. Shirasaki bunted himself onto first. Tsutsugo hit a three-run home run. 8-5 Yokohama.

The bottom of the eighth started fast. Yuhei singled, Hatake got hit, Takeuchi hit an RBI. Nishida sac-bunted to put two runners in scoring position.

Hayashi took the mound for Yokohama and Imanami came in to to hit for Ohbiki. Yuichi then hit a two-run RBI. 8-8.

 This is when both teams usually kill time until they tie.

Bottom of the twelfth. Takeuchi doubled, then moved to third on a Nishida sac bunt. Finally, with Ueda at bat, an error at third allowed Takeuchi to score the sayonara winning run. 9-8 Tokyo, Final.

The Swallows travel down to Nagoya for a series starting Tuesday.
