While the Giants were far from fielding their optimal lineup it was nice to see Sugiura strikeout the first four batters he saw. The Swallows offense wasn’t getting much done against Imamura but it looked like Sugiura had the upper hand in the matchup.

The Swallows scored a single run after Yuhei singled after one out, and Nishida and Yachi got back-to-back two out singles to score one run. 1-0 Swallows

The Giants got the run back in the next inning when Ibata lined a solid shot into the left field stands. 1-1 All

The Giants pulled Imamura for Tahara in the sixth. Imamura started things off by giving up a lead off single to Hatake. Ueda replaced Hatake on the basepaths and stole second. Kiyashiki’s (who?) throw to second was so bad it hit Ueda knocking the ball towards left, allowing Ueda to take yet another base. Iihara did just enough to get the ball into right for a sac fly. 2-1 Swallows

Sugiura pitched seven inning and gave way to Yamamoto. Yamamoto got saddled with a runner on second after Yuhei badly misjudged a fly to right, and gave up a walk after getting just one out. The Swallows sent in Akiyoshi and the rookie delivered with a strike’em out throw’em out double play to end the threat in the eighth. AKiyoshi came back in the ninth and fanned all three batters he faced. The Swallows started the game with 4 Ks and ended the game with 4Ks. 2-1 Swallows FINAL

Sugiura pitched 7 strong inning for his second career win.
