Which sucks worse: the Swallows or being a Swallows fan? Whne you’re five games out of fifth place in September, you look for a relatively good loss. The Birds outhit Chunichi and left only eight runners stranded, which isn’t as bad as they’ve done. A lot of Ks against Tokyo, though.

The scoring:

Bottom of the first: Shichijo started off by walking Oshima on four straight pitches. Tani sac-bunted him over and Takahashi grounded out. Morino then hit an RBI. 1-0 Chunichi.

Bottom of the third: Oshima led off again, this time with a single, and was sac-bunted over by Tani again. Takahashi popped out and Morino hit another RBI – a double this time. 2-0 Chunichi.

Top of the sixth: Yuichi singled, Kawabata popped out, and Balentien walked. Yuhei hit an RBI single, then Hatakeyama grounded into a double play. 2-1 Chunichi.

Bottom of the sixth: Morino hit a solo home run to right. 3-1 Chunichi, Final.
