The Swallows opened the scoring with a Kawabata solo shot in the first to take an early lead. 1-0 Swallows

Then it was time for Arakai to start pitching and every kind of wildness attributable to a pitcher was displayed. Arakaki started things off with a four pitch walk. Arakaki allowed the runner to advance on a wild pitch before the runner advanced to third on a ground out. Then Arakaki hit Kajitani to put men on the corners. After getting Blanco to line out to second, Arakaki allowed a double to Tsutsugo cashed in both runners. 2-1 BayStars Arakaki proceeded to uncork another wild pitch before getting Balderis to fly out. Those keeping score at home would have counted one walk, one hit batsman, and two wild pitches. (There was also a stolen base somewhere in there as well.)

The Swallows quickly tied it up in the second with a Hatakeyama solo shot. 2-2 All

The bottom of the second saw Arakaki hit the strike zone more often, but unfortunately the BayStars bats also made a lot of contact. Yamazaki lead off the inning with a single before Kurobane struckout on Arakaki’s nasty fork ball. The BayStars gifted Arakaki an out in the form of a Moscoso sac bunt. Kuwahara brought Yamazaki home with a triple and a Ishikawa single brought home another run. 4-2 BayStars

The Swallows got one back when Yamada singled and Ueda doubled to put men in scoring position. Yamada came home on a Kawabata groundout but the Swallows couldn’t punch in the tying run. 4-3 BayStars

Things calmed down a bit and Arakaki pitched scoreless innings but left the mound after the fourth inning. Emura came in for Arakaki in the fifth and gave up a solo shot to Tsutsugo. 5-3 BayStars

The Swallows got a run via a Morioka single that left men on the corners with just one out. 5-4 BayStars However, neither Nakamura nor Iihara managed to get the tying run home.
