Aug 24th 2014, vs Yokohama

August 24th, 2014

Yokohama BayStars 1

Tokyo Swallows 2

Streak: LWLWW  Last 5: Won 2

(Matsuyama Botchan Stadium)

The Swallows swept the BayStars down in muggy Matsuyama. A rare treat at the Birds’ home away from home. Much high-fiving in the Tsubamegun.

The scoring:

Bottom of the second: Kinjoh took the field in right for Yokohama and Yuhei started off the side by hitting a solo home run over his head. 1-0 Tokyo.

Bottom of the fifth (inning, not of whiskey – this was a win): With a 3-1 count, Takeuchi launched a long ball over Kinjoh. 2-0 Tokyo.

Top of the ninth: Ogawa, having pitched eight shutout innings on seven hits passed the ball to Barnette. The best bearded Sun Devil in the CL got Kinjoh to ground out, gave up a solo homer to Baldiris, then struck out two to end the game and notch his eighth save of the campaign. 2-1 Tokyo, Final.

Monday is a day of rest for everyone except Kozo. The team will take the jet ferry over to Hiroshima to roast some Carp starting Tuesday. (They’re bony, but there’s a lot of meat there.)
