As with so many big wins, a massive offensive late middle inning put the Birds over the top, continuing a bit of an upswing (by 2014 Tokyo standards).

Top of the first: Chunichi started early. With one out, Araki singled, Hernandez doubled, and Wada hit a two-run single. 2-0 Chunichi.
Bottom of the first: Tokyo struck right back, although not enough to take the lead. Two outs in, Kawabata singled and Balentien hit an RBI out to the fence. 2-1 Chunichi.
Bottom of the fourth: Tokyo took the lead. With an out on the board, Hatakeyama singled and Iihara hit a two-run homer to left. 3-2 Tokyo.
Bottom of the sixth: Kaboom. Hatake singled out to the fence and was replaced by Noguchi. Iihara singled. Nakamura walked. Bases loaded. Yamada hit an RBI single. The little-heard-from Yachi hit a two-RBI single. Kawabata hit a three-run home run. Balentien doubled and was replaced by Ueda. Yuhei singled; men on the corners. No dice. Two straight outs. 9-2 Tokyo.
Top of the seventh: The Dragons struck back. Takahashi singled and was replaced by Matsui. Fujii and Araki singled, loading the bases. Hernandez hit an RBI single, then Wada knocked in another two RBIs. 9-5 Tokyo.
Bottom of the seventh: Nakamura drilled Payano’s second pitch for a solo round-tripper. 10-5 Tokyo.
Top of the eighth: Tani reached first on an error. Takahashi singled Tani into scoring position. Hirata sac-bunted a run in. 10-6 Tokyo, Final.
