Monday Bullets #13 (The Halfway Edition)

Monday Bullets is a feature in which Tsubamegun writers (mostly Kozo) gather random news, thoughts, images, movies, etc. during the week and publish them for off day consumption.

  • The Swallows are exactly halfway through the 144 game season with a 30-40-2 record. The simple math puts the team at a 60-80-4 record for the year which would be a minor improvement to last year’s 57-83-4 record. We can do better.
  • Hopefully the Swallows road to improvement will be aided by the imminent return of Yasuhiro Ogawa. Ogawa is expected to start during the team’s weekend series against the BayStars. Getting anything resembling stability in our starting rotation would be the key to improving in the second half.
  • Hatakeyama and Balentien also look poised to make returns during the month as they’ll be playing in farm games this week. Both seem to indicate that they are feeling OK in interviews.
  • The Swallows will open another official store near the Jingu batting center. This second store may specialize in mascot merch and is being called the Tsubakuro store. The store will officially open on the 21st of this month.
  • The Swallows will start a 6 game home stand against the Dragons and the BayStars starting tomorrow.
  • Yuhei, Yamada, and Nakamura were added to the CL All Star roster as managers picks. It will be the first All Star game for each player.
