Yomiuri Giants 0
Streak: Won 1 Last 5: TWLLW
|W: Matsuoka (3-3); L: Imamura (1-1)|
Tonight’s 2:38 victory was a superficial flip of last night’s 2:25 loss. 1-0, nine total hits. OK, the similarities don’t go a whole lot deeper, which is good because it allows for this game to have been a win. (How’s that for just about the worst non-cliche sentence to have appeared in a sports write-up?)

Yes, Tokyo fans, you read that right: a Matsuoka complete-game shutout. A three-hitter. At first, I thought the wonderful Swan Lake IPA at Lodi had caused my eyes to deceive me, but it seems such an event actually did occur. Three hits, two walks vs. eight Ks.
Just as surprising? The one run was a Yamada solo shot – his second of the year, hence, of his career. 1-0 Tokyo, Final.
More Big Eggage tomorrow.
