Things started off brightly. Balentien hit a two-run homer in the first. 2-0 Tokyo.

After that, things went South. Fukuoka answered immediately. Matsuda drove in a run, putting runners on first and second and the score 2-1. Hasegawa had a timely hit to Hiyane, who fumbled it. 2-2.

Hiyane’s was just the first of five errors – the Birds had more errors than hits.

This all sucked. I might come back and add more detail tomorrow, when the fog of disgust has dissipated a bit.

This was worse than the score would indicate. 7-3 Fukuoka, Final.

Better things happening tomorrow, let us hope.
