Tokyo came out on the short end of this nearly tit-for-tat battle for the top of the B-class. (Then again, most of the Central League is a battle for who can climb all the way up to .500.)

Chunichi scored first, in the top of the first, when Luna hit one to left, it got by Milledge, which let Luna turn a likely out into a double and let Oshima score from second. This was immediately followed by a Wada RBI single. 2-0 Chunichi.

The Swallows pulled ahead in the bottom of the third on a Balentien three-run round-tripper. Tanaka and Milledge were the runners. 3-2 Tokyo.

Tanishige, Fujii, and Oshima all drove in runs for the Dragons in the top of the fourth. This led to Shichijo getting yanked in the fourth, in favor of Takeuchi’s bat. 5-3 Chunichi.

In the fifth, Hiyane hit, stole second, made it to third on a Tanaka groun out, and Milledge doubled him in. Milledge made it to third on a passed ball, then scored on a timely Iwamura infield hit. 5-5.

In the sixth, Clark singled and was replaced with Iwasaki, who scored when Araki hit one back to the mound. 6-5 Chunichi, Final.
