Akagawa got off tor a rough start, giving up a hit to Aranami, who was then sac-bunted to second, walking Tsutsugo, then seeing both runners move into scoring position on a Ramirez infield fly. Goto then drove both runners in. Groan. 2-0 Yokohama.
The Swallows struck back when Takeuchi was hit, then driven in by Aikawa. 2-1 Yokohama.
Tokyo took the lead in the fourth, when Kawabata singled, then made it to second on a hit and run, before scoring on an Aikawa single. Aikawa advanced on a Morioka line drive, then scored on an Akagawa single. Always good stuff when the pitcher hits an RBI. 3-2 Tokyo.
Not for long, though. The guys with a crappy stadium in a nice neighborhood struck back. Akagawa walked Watanabe, then gave up a home run to Ide. This was followed by him hitting Takajo, who advanced on a Takasaki sac-bunt. Aranami then tripled in Takajo and promptly scored on an Uchimura sacrifice. 6-3 Yokohama.
Ueda (in left for Takeuchi, who moved to first for Fujimoto), singled and made it to third on a Balentien hit-and-run. Miwa replaced Coco on first. Kawabata drove Ueda in on a sac-fly. 6-4 Yokohama.
Hugo the Brazilian took the mound for Tokyo and clearly wasn’t sure where he was supposed to throw. With one out, he walked Ikki on four pitches, gave up a sac-bunt, then walked Uchimura and Tsutsugo on five pitches each to load the bases. He then walked Koike on four straight pitches to give up a run and get yanked. Abe struck out Nakamura to end the inning. 7-4 Yokohama, Final.
The Swallows travel to Hiroshima tomorrow.
