The Swallows miss a bunch of opportunities, and the Tigers managed to capitalize on a few opportunities to deny the Birds a sweep at Koshien.

The scoring began in the bottom of the first as the Tigers got men on the corners with back-to-back singles with 1 out. While Akagawa managed to get Arai to strikeout swinging, but the Tigers attempted a double steal. Nakamura nailed Toritani at second, but Yamato touched home prior to the out call at second to give the Tigers a run. 1-0 Tigers The double steal situation would not have been in order had Kawabata not dropped a potential foul out earlier in the at bat.
The Swallows tied the game in the third after Yuhei led off the inning with a double. Tanaka bunted the runner to third, and Coco singled him home to tie the game. 1-1 All
Both teams had multiple runners and scoring situations but Akagawa and Standridge didn’t break. Akagawa finally gave up the go-ahead run in the sixth inning. Arai the younger and Murton opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Arai the elder and Hirano both grounded out but advanced Arai each time, allowing him to score the go ahead run. 2-1 Tigers Akagawa’s night ended after the inning.
The Tigers cemented their win in the eighth inning. The Tigers opened the inning with back-to-back-to-back singles. One ground out later, the Tigers sent up the soon to be retired Kanemoto. Kanemoto got an RBI by drawing a walk, and Asai followed with a sac fly to extend the score. 4-1 Tigers
