Young Shichijo had a rough night, lasting only two innings, during which he threw 46 pitches, gave up six hits, one of which was a home run, a walk, and four runs.
In the first, with an out and Kikuchi and Soyogi on the corners, Eldred hit an RBI double. Dobayashi then brought Soyogi in with a sac fly. 2-0 Hiroshima.
In the second, with one out, Ishihara singled, moved to second on a Nomura sac bunt, and scored on a Maru round-tripper to center. 4-0 Hiroshima.
In the sixth, Masubuchi took the mound and walked Mukae, who moved to second on an Ishihara sac-bunt. Masubuchi managed to strike out Nomura, then gave up an RBI double to Maru. Tanaka then bobbled a Kikuchi grounder, putting men on the corners and Masubuchi in danger.
No more runs, thankfully. 5-0 Hiroshima.
The Swallows didn’t respond until Milledge hit a solo home run to left in the seventh. 5-1 Hiroshima.
Milledge hit again in the ninth and was driven in by Kawabata, but it wasn’t enought o change the 5-1 Hiroshima, Final.
Roman takes on Otake as the Swallows play another one in the Hiroshima rail yard tomorrow night.
