Another slow start on the offensive side for the Birds was their undoing tonight. While they struggled, the m*&^%er f#%king giants did not. They also did enough to come back to win the game late.

Akagawa was struggling along with the Tokyo bats tonight. He only lasted 6 innings but he reached the century mark for pitches thrown. Nearly 45% of those came in the first three innings which meant the giants batters were making him work. Their effort paid off in the form of three runs. The giants scored two in the third after Kato reached on a single and then stole second. Akagawa then walked Utsumi to put runners on 1st and 2nd. Chono followed that with a double scoring Kato. 1 – 0 giants Matsumoto then hit a sac fly to score Utsumi. 2 – 0 giants Chono advanced to third on the play when Milledge made a poor throw back to the infield. It was all for not as Sakamoto flew out to end the inning.
The giants extended their lead in the next inning when Murata hit a solo shot. 3 – 0 giants
Yamada got one back for the Birds when he hit a solo shot in the top of the fifth. 3 – 1
The Birds would tie the game in the top of the 7th inning. They got their second run when Kawamoto batted in place of Akagawa. He hit a solo shot to right to make it 3 – 2 in favor of the giants.
After a Kabata single and a Tanaka walk, Hatakeyama hit a double to left to tie the game. 3 – 3 Milledge would ground out to end the threat.
Masubuchi came into to pitch the bottom of the 7th. He got two quick outs but then the bottom fell out. First Terauchi reached first when he hit a grounder off of Masubuchi’s glove. Then Katoh walked to put runners on first and second. Ishi came in to pinch-hit for Tahara. He made his moronic, bespectaled manager look smart when he hit a liner between Tanaka and Boo to score Terauchi from second. 4 -3 giants
That was how the game ended.
The same two teams will battle tomorrow at 2 pm. The scheduled hurlers are Tateyama for the Birds and Holden for the giants.
