Chunichi Dragons 1
Streak: Lost 1 Last 5: DLWDL
(Nagoya Dome)
Chunichi starter, Yamauchi, pitches seven solid innings of five hit baseball to help the home team eke out a one-run win. In short, typical Nagoya baseball.

The birds were held to just six hits today. Sometimes it feels like that’s typical Tokyo baseball.

Yamauchi got the win, but Tateyama also had a good day on the mound. He gave up only four hits to Yamauchi’s five, but one of them was a solo Morino homer in the bottom of the fourth inning that would be enough to earn the ‘W’ for the dragons.
It took Tateyama just 78 pitches to make it through seven innings today. He struck out five while walking none. Fujimoto pinch hit for him to start the top of the eighth, but it was all for naught as the lefty grounded out to second base. Milledge and Miwa followed by doing exactly the same thing.
The Swallows offense had one multi-hit inning, the first, but that was pretty much it from there on out. Matsui was the only player in the game with two hits (single, double).
Tokyo reliever, Yamamoto, who pitched the eighth inning, allowed one hit but recorded all three outs via K.
The birds have the day off tomorrow and will travel to Koshien Stadium for a three-game set against Hanshin. All three games are slated to start at 6PM.
