It looks like the Birds coaching staff has decided to try a new line-up for the forseeable future. In what was first reported by Sanspo, a few of the first team players will be sent down to nigun (minor league team) effective today. For those who can handle the Japanese, you can read about it here or here.
For those who can’t decipher kanji, the four players heading down are Balentien, Onodera, Kyuko and Yamada. The players coming up are Lim, Kawabata, Miyade, and Shoda. Yes you read that correctly. Coco is heading down.
Both articles focus on Wladimir Balentien and the fact that he will be heading down. They both make reference to his tweeting on Friday evening. This, plus the fact that he has not been hitting the ball very well, are the reasons for his demotion.
We all know that the last 9 games have been pretty shocking and disappointing. Hopefully this little roster altering will shake-up the whole team out of their slump. And hopefully we can see Balentien back up smacking HR’s before the rainy season officially begins.
