Infielder Jamie D’Antona (no. 4) was brought back up to the top team after two weeks of rehab on a pulled hamstring.
D’Antona had just been named the July player of the month for the Central League when the leg injury occurred, and his run-production has been sorely missed during the two weeks without him.
In 2009 with the Tokyo Swallows, D’Antona is hitting .297 in 316 at-bats. He currently leads the team in rbi’s and slugging.
He had one plate appearance in the game last night, and it is hoped that he will not be rushed back into the lineup before his leg is back to 100%.
Deactivated from the 28-man roster once again is relief pitcher, Masao Kida. Kida has resembled a yo-yo recently with all of his back and forth movement between the first and farm teams.
The current 28-man roster, as of 6 pm yesterday evening, looks like this:
Pitchers: Yoshinori, Lim, Tateyama, Ishikawa, Yuuki, Matsui, Takagi, Lee, Igarashi, Oshimoto
Catchers: Aikawa, Yoneno, Kawamoto
Infielders: Kawashima, Miyamoto, Yoshimoto, Tanaka, Hatakeyama, Noguchi, D’Antona
Outfielders: Fukuchi, Guiel, Takeuchi, Iihara, Aoki, Shida, Yuichi
